Data Strategy Insights for AI

Our key takeaways from the Ab Initio Customer Connect event on sustainable ways to organising data.

Our colleagues Josef Dukarevic, Florian Reithinger, Norbert Hohmann and Ann-Christin Tiemann look back on two inspiring days at the Ab Initio Customer Connect event at the Muffathalle in Munich last week.

Focus on Data Management

This year’s focus was on trends in data management in the age of generative AI and cloud computing. The event covered a wide range of topics:

  • Increased productivity and improved governance
  • The use of data products
  • High meta-data quality
  • Future-ready data infrastructures with best practices for modernisation

Nearly 20 presentations by Ab Initio, customers, and the Ab Initio partner network provided valuable insights on these topics.

Rethinking Data Strategy

As a partner company, we at DEVnet also contributed a presentation, delivered by our colleagues Josef Dukarevic and Florian Reithinger: “Rethinking Data Strategy: Unifying Data Science and Data Management in Enterprise Architecture”.

Based on our experience with a wide range of clients across industries, we shared many practical insights, such as:

  • Why many data management and data science initiatives fail – and how to avoid it.
  • The importance of a solid data strategy and thoughtful data architecture as success factors for these initiatives, and how they need to work together to create real value.
  • The role of self-service data architectures in empowering business teams while ensuring governance.
  • Why it is essential to firmly embed all these initiatives in enterprise architecture – and where exactly to do so to enable sustainable, scalable solutions.

What counts for LLMs

Our goal is to show pathways to success and help companies make their data initiatives truly deliver business value.

Our colleagues enjoyed two thoroughly rewarding days filled with insightful discussions and valuable takeaways. One key insight was that in the age of LLMs, it is not about how much data you have, but how accessible, contextualised, and semantically understandable it is for AI systems. The event was rounded off by a wonderful summer atmosphere.

Many thanks to Ab Initio for the invitation and excellent organisation – and to all customers and partners for the enriching conversations.
